Rod Blagojevich rose quickly in Illinois politics, winning the governorship in 2002 and again in 2006. His career unraveled after a 2008 corruption scandal involving attempts to profit from appointing Barack Obama’s Senate successor. He was impeached, convicted on multiple federal charges, and served eight years in prison before his sentence was commuted in 2020. Since his release, he’s pursued media projects and legal efforts aimed at challenging his removal from office.
